Plans is currently an Alpha test in NYC
Plans is a new way for 21+ year olds to meet people—no endless messaging, no pressure. You get curated invites to small group drinks or dinners at local venues. All you need to do is show up and see who you vibe with.
Here’s how it works:
1. Set your preferences
Answer a quick quiz about yourself and your going out preferences. That's all Plans needs to start sending you relevant invites.
2. Get an invite by text
A few days before a plan, you’ll get an SMS with the date and time window, neighborhood, and a brief vibe description (like, “rooftop cocktails”)
3. RSVP and pay
Tap the link in your text to the full details. If it feels right, confirm your spot and pay securely with Apple Pay. RSVP fees are per person, and prices may vary by event.
For more details, check out our RSVP to an event article.
4. Bring a friend
Want to go with someone you know? You can invite a +1 - they’ll just need to grab their own ticket and also be over 21.
Head over to our Inviting +1s to Plans article for more information.
5. Check your plans
Everything you’ve RSVP’d to lives in the ‘Your plans’ tab in the app. The venue location and group members are revealed on the day. Make sure your notifications are switched on so you don’t miss any updates.
6. Show up
Events are small, curated group hangouts at local venues, designed to help you meet new people in a relaxed, social setting. Expect to meet around 8-12 other guests.
7. Stay connected, on your terms
The next day, Plans will check in to see how it went. Take a moment to reflect on the people you met — no pressure, no split-second decisions. For each person, you can choose:
- Friend: if you had a great time and want to stay in touch
- Crush: if there was more of a romantic spark and you'd like to explore that
Taking that time the day after means you can be honest with yourself without any in-the-moment awkwardness.
If there’s a mutual interest:
- Mutual friend: You'll be added to each other's friends lists, so you can stay in touch and join future Plans hangouts together.
- Mutual crush: You'll get a text letting you know. You'll only find out who chose you if the feeling is mutual. No one-sided reveals, no awkwardness. If it's a match, you can connect and keep the conversation going on Bumble.
